    Asparagus seeds are poisonous you should be using gloves! I hope you are ok ?

    • @YouPlantTube
      @YouPlantTube Місяць тому

      Thank you for expressing your concern! While it's true that asparagus seeds contain a toxic compound called saponin, it's primarily found in the red berries of the asparagus plant, not the seeds themselves. There's no real concern as long as you don't ingest the red berries, basic precautions would be to wash your hands if you need to remove the seeds from the berries. However, it's always a good idea to handle them with care, and gloves can provide an extra layer of protection. Thank you for watching and I appreciate your reminder about safety precautions.

    i repot them cause they were leggy, but now they are still so LONG and the leaves are not as big...

    • @YouPlantTube
      @YouPlantTube Місяць тому

      It sounds like your celery plants may be experiencing some stress after repotting. It's common for plants to undergo some adjustment period after being transplanted, especially if they were leggy beforehand. The long stems could be a sign of stretching due to insufficient light or overcrowding. To help your celery plants recover and thrive, make sure they are receiving adequate sunlight or artificial light if indoors, and provide them with proper spacing to allow for healthy growth. Additionally, regular watering and appropriate fertilization can support their development. If the leaves are not as large as expected, it could indicate nutrient deficiencies or other environmental factors. Consider adjusting your fertilization routine or soil composition to ensure your celery plants have access to essential nutrients. Overall, patience and attentive care will help your celery plants adjust to their new environment and regain their vigor. Thank you for sharing your experience, and feel free to reach out if you have any further questions or concerns!

    What climate is favourable for this crop please?

    • @YouPlantTube
      @YouPlantTube Місяць тому

      The favorable climate for growing peas depends on the variety you're cultivating. Generally, peas prefer cool weather and can tolerate light frosts. They thrive in temperatures ranging from 55°F to 75°F (13°C to 24°C). If you're growing English peas, they typically perform best in regions with cool springs and mild summers, such as USDA hardiness zones 3 to 7. However, they can be grown in other zones with appropriate timing and care. For warmer climates, consider planting peas in the fall for a winter harvest or choose heat-tolerant varieties like sugar snap peas or snow peas. Regardless of your climate, provide peas with well-draining soil, ample sunlight, and regular watering to ensure healthy growth. Experimenting with different varieties and planting times can help you find the best approach for your specific location. Thank you for your question, and happy gardening! If you have any further inquiries, feel free to ask.

      Once you have an established asparagus seedling it would be preferable to transplant it directly into the ground, But not everybody has acres of land accessible to them, the video is ideally for those who have limited space or may not have available space to transfer them into the ground directly at the time where it's necessary because of other things growing at that time at that place. The video was made in my backyard and not in vegetable Farm!

    a direct seeded into pots with other plants when the other plants die off the asparagus takes over the pot. once their well-established you can use the trench method. but I like to use a post hole digger. make a deep hole. fill it with wood chips and 1010 fertilizer with dirt. remember these roots will be going down for 30 years or more. make a little sugar hole for each one and they'll grow for it. do not use manure. farmers are using herbicides that are making manure poisonous to plants

    • @YouPlantTube
      @YouPlantTube Місяць тому

      Thank you for sharing your insights! Your method of direct seeding into pots and then transitioning to the trench method with wood chips and fertilizer sounds like a great approach for growing asparagus. It's important to consider the long-term health of the plants, and your advice on avoiding manure due to potential herbicide contamination is valuable. Happy gardening🌱😊! • @YouPlantTube
      @YouPlantTube Місяць тому

      In Far North Queensland, Australia, you can plant kohlrabi seeds during the cooler months of the year, typically from April to August. This timing allows the plants to grow during the milder temperatures of the region. Ensure you choose a sunny location with well-draining soil for optimal growth. Happy planting! I live in Dallas Tx ( Zone 8). What’s the right time to start seeds ? Can I transplant directly from the seed tray to my planter box?

    • @YouPlantTube
      @YouPlantTube Місяць тому

      In Dallas, Texas (Zone 8), you can start cauliflower seeds indoors about 4-6 weeks before your last expected frost date, which is typically in late winter or early spring. As for transplanting, it's usually best to start seedlings in seed trays and then transplant them into your planter box once they have developed a few true leaves and are sturdy enough to handle the transplant process. Make sure to harden off your seedlings before transplanting them outdoors to help them adjust to the outdoor conditions gradually. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask! 🌱😊

      you need decent soil, with a good mix of sand, clay, silt and compost or organic matter. If you are growing in pots, use a potting mix that drains well; most general-purpose potting mixes are fine, though I have been known to add up to 20% sand to the mix

    Hi. How big is your final container? I am thinking of starting asparagus from seeds in seed pods then to gallon container then finally to 5 gallon bucket.

    • @YouPlantTube
      @YouPlantTube 2 місяці тому

      Generally, asparagus plants require a deep and spacious container to accommodate their long roots and allow for proper growth. Starting with seed pods and gradually transitioning to larger containers is a great approach. For mature asparagus plants, a 5-gallon bucket should provide enough space for each plant to thrive. Just ensure the container has good drainage and is filled with well-draining soil. Best of luck with your asparagus growing journey, and feel free to reach out if you have any more questions! 🌱😊

      Indeed, growing asparagus does require some patience as it's typically a 2-year process to harvest. Do you need to cover them with netting ?

    • @YouPlantTube
      @YouPlantTube 4 місяці тому

      Absolutely! In the early stages, I use netting to protect seedlings from birds and other potential hazards. Once they've grown a bit, I remove it to allow for better airflow and space. It's a protective measure during the vulnerable phase. If you have more questions or need gardening tips, feel free to ask. Happy gardening! 🌱

    One plant can produce only one asparagus?

      Great question! Actually, one asparagus plant can produce multiple spears throughout the season. It's a perennial crop, and with proper care, you can enjoy a continuous harvest. If you have any more questions or need tips, feel free to ask. Happy gardening! 🌱

    I didn't know I needed to remove the "seeds" from the pods. I planted the entire pods. 🙄

    • @YouPlantTube
      @YouPlantTube 4 місяці тому

      No worries at all! The seeds can still grow in the pot, but removing them from the pods before planting provides better control and spacing. If the seeds are already in the pods, you can leave them be and see how they progress.so give it a shot. Just ensure they have good sunlight, proper watering, and soil conditions. It's all part of the gardening journey! Feel free to share updates, and if you have more questions, I'm here to help. Happy gardening! 🌱

    Did you poke holes in the bottom of container??? If so wouldnt you elevate so roots wouldnt rot?

    • @YouPlantTube

      Of course, these containers have drainage holes for removing excess water, just like any other pots that do not need to be raised. In the video, you can see the modifications I made to the container. You can find the video at ua-cam.com/video/3FqT1b56uJI/v-deo.html.
